DTB – The Lazio Bioscience Technology District
 

The Lazio Region Bioscience Technology District (DTB) was created on April 4, 2008. Filas drafted the DTB agreement that was jointly signed by the Lazio Region, the Ministry of University and Research and the Ministry for Economic Development, to promote technical and scientific collaboration between industry and research, strengthen the competitiveness and visibility of the bioscience sector at the international level and spur the qualitative and quantitative growth of enterprises and know-how.

Filas has been appointed by the Lazio Region to manage all district activities.

The specific objectives of the Bioscience Technology District are:

  1. Activate a network for technical and scientific exchange addressing research and enterprise system actors;
  2. Strengthen potential, operative and prototypal operations for applied and industrial research;
  3. Facilitate investments in technological and dedicated technical-scientific infrastructures;
  4. Promote and support new high-tech enterprises;
  5. Strengthen and improve the visibility of the sector at the international level;
  6. Promote training and growth of technical and sector-specific know-how.


The DTB priority R&D areas are:

  1. Pharmaceuticals;
  2. Medical Devices;
  3. Biotechnology;
  4. Nano-science and Nano-technology for the health sector;
  5. Food science for the health sector;
  6. ICT for biomedicine and health services.

The DTB will publish calls and pursue activities including:

  • Industrial research and experimental development projects jointly implemented by enterprises and universities/private or public research agencies, as well as support the diffusion of research results;
  • Technology transfer to SMEs;
  • Programmes and initiatives addressing neuroscience;
  • Participation in the social capital of existing enterprises and start-ups aiming to implement innovative, high-tech activities
  • Industrial research and experimental development projects for the health sector, including the optimisation of health system management, organization and competitiveness;
  • Actions to exploit the full potential of patents and to promote international scientific collaboration
  • Industrial and applied research by large enterprises, SMEs and research centres;
  • Advanced “on the job” training, professional training and specialisation courses;
Creation of new enterprises, including spin-offs from research centers, SMEs and large enterprises.
