EU Initiatives

Filas promotes the development of innovation and internationalisation in regional SMEs.

Filas, the Financial Investment Agency of the Regione Lazio, assists the Regional Government in innovation policy programming and provides tools for the modernization of regional SMEs.

As the reference agency for the European Research and Development Programmes, Filas presents proposals and projects to encourage regional SMEs to innovate, advances new models for international cooperation, and promotes strategic partnerships between university and industry.

Filas is actively involved in international cooperation programmes in order to give rise to processes of technology and know-how transferral, the creation of new start-ups and a tighter cooperation between enterprises in Europe and the new emerging markets, with particular reference to southeast Asia.

Filas assists SMEs to face the process of internationalisation of the economy, which has modified the existing factors for territorial competitiveness, and the enlargement of the European Union, which has introduced new issues, but also great opportunities that interest specific areas of Europe.

Seventh Framework Programme
In order to favour the creation of strategic international partnerships and allow Lazio SMEs to access advanced and innovative technological know-how, Filas, as the reference agency of the Regione Lazio, promotes the access and participation of small and medium-sized enterprises based in Lazio to the calls of the Seventh Framework Programme.
The Seventh Framework Programme (7PQ), which is operative from January 1,2007 to 2013, is based on the success of the Sixth Framework Programme and, in particular, the European Research Area and the knowledge society. The key objectives of this new programme include strengthening the participation of SMEs in FP7 and encourage the activities of young researchers and women in the scientific world.
