Filas Mission to Argentina

At the end of November, ImMediaTe Project Director Michela Michilli joined an Italian delegation composed of public and private organisations to Argentina to present the project and sound out interest in partnerships and collaboration in the field of the digital media and creative industries.

The three-day mission was organised around three main appointments: the Conference of the Italo-Argentine Chamber of Commerce (CACIA); Expotoons, Argentina’s International Animation Festival and Ventana Sur, a three-day congress dedicated to “Connecting with the Latin American Film Industry”.

At the CACIA Conference, Ms. Michilli participated in the round table on digital content and IPR management where she presented ImMediaTe, an EU project dedicated to improving the value of the digital media and creative industries through innovative business models and services.

Ms. Michilli emphasises that “Filas has been pursuing a precise strategy of collaboration with key international players in the digital media and creative industries. Now, after a series of memoranda that will be signed soon with various important southeast Asian partners, Filas is ready to formalise two new Memoranda of Understanding with Latin American partners: the Fundacion Exportar, a public-private institute that provides business support measures and infrastructures to help Argentine companies commercialise their products on the international market, and the Metropolitan Design Centre in Buenos Aires, the Cluster on Creative Industries managed by the Municipality of Buenos Aires , also acting as Incubator financing and assisting companies, designers and entrepreneurs in Buenos Aires in entering ineternational competitive markets."

Meetings were also held with the Asociacion Argentina de Cine de Animacion, the Argentinean chapter of the International Association of Animation Movies (ASIFA); the National Institute for Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) and Hook Up Animation, a leader in the Argentinean animation industry, whose clients include Cartoon Network Latin America and Walt Disney Television.

Project ImMediaTe aims to promote SME growth and innovation skills in the Digital Media and Creative Industries sector by creating the conditions to help companies become more "investment-ready" and investors become more "sector-aware". The project will assist new ventures in identifying and attracting both public and private investments with a special focus on international co-financing schemes.
