Filas Delegation to attend INSME Annual Conference in Dubai
Filas will be present at the INSME 2009 Annual Conference that is dedicated to "Building a Knowledge based eco-system for SMEs: Finance, Innovation, Technology and Networking". The Conference will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from April 20 to 24, 2009.
The four-day conference will include, besides the board meeting and association meeting of all members, an international conference and visits to the many industrial and technological parks in Dubai. In particular, the Filas delegation will visit Dubai Media, ICT & Biotech areas: Dubai Media City, Dubai Studio City, International Media Production Zone, Dubai Internet City, Dubai Outsource Zone and DuBiotech.
Moreover, the Filas delegation will also pursue activities related to the INNODEAL and CLUNET Projects through various bi- and multilateral meetings. These include a meeting with Mr. Jin Won Choi, Executive Director of Strategy & Business Development for SmartCity Dubai.
SmartCity is a large technological park in Dubai that hosts very successful innovative clusters, including Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City and Dubai Knowledge Village. Mr. Mehirr Nath Choppra, Senior Product Development Manager - Media Strategy and Excellence, TECOM (the most important financial holding company in Dubai and majority partners in SmartCity) will accompany the Filas delegation on a visit to the cluster after the meeting with Mr. Won Choi.
TECOM has recently launched two vast investment programmes to replicate the successful model of SmartCity in other areas of the world. These two sites have already been identified and an investment in excess of US$ 400 million has been allocated for the creation of SmartCity Malta e SmartCity Kochi.
In particular, SmartCity Malta has recently been involved in ImMediaTe, a European Project coordinated by FILAS, which is presently undergoing the evaluation stage by the European Commission.
The International Network for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises-INSME is a non-profit Association open to international membership. Its mission is to stimulate transnational cooperation and public and private partnership in the field of innovation and technology transfer to SMEs.
The ISME Network includes 84 members from around the globe. FILAS is one of the 15 governmental full members and regularly participates in the INSME annual assemblies.
