The Lazio Region Allocates 30 Million Euro for Research
The Lazio Region Commission for Economic Development, Research, Innovation and Tourism has allocated 32.5 million Euros for research. The funding allotment for 2008-2011 is reserved to promote research and the experimental development of health services.
This includes fifteen million euro for the Lazio Region Biosciences Cluster (DTB).
The DTB was created in March 2008 through a joint agreement between the Lazio Region and the national government to strengthen the integration of the enterprise and research system and create a research, training and production system that will cooperate with other national and international leaders in the biosciences sector. The Lazio Region DTB is managed by Filas.
In particular, 11 million Euros will go to ENEA (Agency for New Technologies, Energy and the Environment) to implement projects addressing proton therapy for tumors, 2 million are reserved for IRCCSs (hospitals and research institutes) for research on adult stem cells and 15 million euro are earmarked for the Lazio Region DTB, the Biosciences Cluster as per the agreement between the National Ministry of University and Research and the Lazio Region. Finally, four and half million Euros will be allocated to the Tor Vergata University of Rome to implement a multi-purpose centre for regenerative medicine.
Filas will manage the fund as determined by Regional Act N. 26, 2007.
